- As you are stringing the rod be sure to do it where you have enough room to pull the line and leader straight through the guides.
- As you put your rod together turn the sections while pushing in slightly to get a good snug fit.
- Occasionally wax the ferrules with paraffin to insure a good fit and to avoid wear that will create loose ferrules.
- When you "catch" a tree, bush or rock and need to break off the leader first point the rod at the object and pull the line straight back to you until it breaks. Never break off by bending the rod.
- When using weighted flies open you casting loop to avoid hitting the rod. Those nicks can damage the rod.
- When you are done fishing always take apart the rod, wash it with fresh water (be sure to flush the reel seat) and fully air dry before putting in the tube.
- Never put a wet rod in the rod tube.
- To clean the rod use warm water and soap. To keep the finish looking like new use fine furniture or car polish.
- Always store your rod in the rod case.
- .And please when you put an assembled rod in your car, check (and check again) to be sure it is safely inside before you close the doors or put up the windows. It is a sound you do not want to hear!
